An engineering assessment, as defined by CSA Z662, is a documented evaluation of a pipeline’s fitness for service, considering all relevant variables. These assessments are critical when applying for license amendments, such as changes in substance, sweet to sour, flow reversals, reactivations, or increases in Maximum Operating Pressure (MOP). At Vision Integrity, we have a team of seasoned pipeline integrity professionals who bring extensive experience to the table, having completed assessments for various service types and across multiple jurisdictions. Our ability to practice and stamp documents across multiple jurisdictions adds significant value, ensuring that your pipeline systems are thoroughly evaluated and meet all necessary safety and regulatory standards.

In-Line Inspection Data Analysis

In-line inspections are a crucial part of maintaining pipeline integrity, allowing for the detection and measurement of internal and external damage. At Vision Integrity, we focus on analyzing data from in-line inspections (ILI) to ensure your pipelines are operating safely and efficiently. Our team provides comprehensive support, including damage identification, trend analysis, and the development of proactive inspection and dig plans, to support ensuring that your pipelines remain in optimal condition.

  • What Is In-line Inspection
In-line inspections (ILI) utilize smart pig tools to detect and measure internal and external pipeline damage, including geometric irregularities, metal loss, and corrosion.
  • Comprehensive Data Analysis

Vision Integrity offers detailed ILI data review, damage identification, trend analysis, and engineering assessments to ensure pipeline safety and compliance.

  • Proactive Planning
Our team supports the development of long-term ILI plans based on historical data, ensuring proactive pipeline maintenance and risk management.

Inline inspections (ILI) are a sophisticated method of evaluating pipeline conditions using smart pig tools that detect various issues, such as geometric anomalies like dents and bulges, and metal loss due to corrosion. Common ILI methods include caliper inspections for geometric measurement, magnetic flux leakage for detecting metal loss, and ultrasonic techniques for more detailed assessments. Vision Integrity specializes in analyzing the data from these inspections, identifying potential issues that may require further investigation, and providing detailed evaluations according to industry standards such as ASME B31G or API 579. Additionally, we offer pipeline dig support and non-destructive examination (NDE) services to ensure that any necessary repairs or interventions are effectively executed.

Our services also include the development of long-term ILI plans, helping you manage and mitigate risks over time. By leveraging our extensive experience and refined processes, Vision Integrity ensures that your pipelines remain compliant with regulatory requirements, such as those outlined in CSA Z662 Annex N, and are well-maintained throughout their operational life.

Right-of-Way (ROW) Inspections

Vision Integrity’s right-of-way (ROW) inspections are designed to ensure the safety and integrity of your pipelines by regularly monitoring the conditions and activities along your pipeline routes. By identifying potential threats early, we help you maintain compliance and prevent costly incidents. Our inspections are enhanced by advanced technology, such as drones equipped with methane detection lasers, allowing us to precisely identify leaks and ensure thorough and cost-effective monitoring of your pipeline infrastructure.

  • Thorough Monitoring
Our ROW inspections identify and address potential threats such as erosion, leaks, and unauthorized construction activities.
  • Multi-Service Efficiency
Vision Integrity offers a range of services, including ROW inspections, CP surveys, and fugitive emissions assessments, all of which can be conducted simultaneously to optimize your resources.
  • Cost-Effective Solutions
Utilizing drones for aerial inspections allows us to cover large areas efficiently, particularly in remote locations.

Pipeline right-of-way (ROW) inspections are essential for maintaining the safety and integrity of your pipeline systems. These inspections involve periodic patrols to observe conditions and activities that could impact pipeline operations, such as ground erosion, vegetation overgrowth, unauthorized construction, and pipeline exposure. Vision Integrity conducts these inspections both on foot and using drones, ensuring comprehensive coverage even in remote areas. The frequency of these inspections is determined by factors like population density, terrain, and specific risks such as third-party activity or encroachment. For most clients, an annual survey is recommended. Vision Integrity offers the added benefit of combining multiple services, such as CP surveys, signage inspections, road and rail crossings, water crossings, leak detection, and fugitive emissions assessments, into a single visit. This approach not only reduces costs but also ensures that all potential issues are efficiently addressed, keeping your pipeline operations safe and compliant.

Risk Assessment

At Vision Integrity, our pipeline risk assessments are a critical component of our integrity services. We analyze potential hazards, assess consequences, and estimate overall risk to help you make informed decisions about your pipeline operations. By tailoring our approach to your specific needs, we provide recommendations that enhance pipeline integrity and support regulatory compliance.

  • Comprehensive Hazard Analysis
We identify potential threats to your pipelines, evaluating both likelihood and consequences to provide a thorough risk assessment.
  • Tailored Risk Management
Our risk assessments are customized to your pipeline inventory and history, offering actionable insights to improve integrity and reduce risk.
  • Regulatory Compliance
Vision Integrity’s risk assessments support your compliance with CSA Z662, helping you meet industry standards while optimizing your operations.

Our pipeline risk assessment process involves a detailed analysis of hazards, including factors that could lead to pipeline failure. We evaluate the likelihood of issues such as internal corrosion, external corrosion, operational challenges, third-party damage, and geotechnical concerns. Following this, we conduct a consequence analysis to assess the potential impact on public safety, regulatory compliance, and your company’s operations. By combining these elements, we estimate the overall risk for each pipeline and provide a Relative Risk Ranking of the pipeline inventory, helping you prioritize maintenance and integrity work within your system.

Additionally, our assessments go beyond identifying risks; they offer practical recommendations for reducing system risk and achieving compliance with CSA Z662. We also provide a high-level review that highlights concerns from both an integrity and regulatory standpoint. Whether managing a small pipeline inventory or a large network, our customized risk management approach ensures you receive the most relevant and effective solutions for your business, enabling more accurate and justified budgeting.
